[NewtoLibraries] Introductions

Okay, I'll go second.  I'm the Sierra admin at Stark Library in Canton.  The last I checked, there were 9 of us on this list.
I'm not new to libraries, nor am I a veteran; I joined the staff in 2018 with no previous library experience and didn't even know what a hold was (okay, I'm not particularly literate in the book-reading sense).  But I know software and how to write SQL.  I love this job!

Hi All,

Thank you for completing our New to Libraries Network interest survey. Your responses have provided valuable insight on what you need, and we are incorporating your feedback as we plan for the future of the New to Libraries Network.

We have a few exciting updates to share about the group:


  1.  We are ready to introduce our online discussion and chat space through Mighty Network. It is free to join and I encourage you to participate if you are new to libraries yourself or want to provide support to those that are. It is a browser-based platform and you do not need to download a separate app. We will be using this platform for discussions, member networking, and for sharing group updates.   1.  We have a new listserv, kindly provided by OPLIN. Please join the Mighty Network and/or listserv if you would like to continue to receive updates about the group.

  1.  Save the date for Wednesday, September 24th! We will be hosting our first (free) virtual event in the afternoon - exact time to be announced soon. This will be panel discussion where librarians in different roles at various types of libraries (such as academic, public, and school libraries) will give an overview of what their job is like and will answer questions from attendees. We will announce the time and panelist details within the next few weeks.
