[NORTHSTAR] Updates on Northstar Accounts and Access

Greetings,

We've seen a number of questions about Northstar lately. I will give you
the best answers we have right now.

First: don't worry too much about any email that warns you about an account
deletion for "oh####@oplin.ohio.gov." It is basically telling us that the
site-specific account administrator that OPLIN set up originally for your
library has not been used. That's OK, because we have come to learn that
our super-administrator logins can do the same thing that the local site
administrators can do (and then some). We are not going to worry about
logging in with that email to keep that specific user account live, and you
don't need to worry about it either.

That's the good news and the clearest part of the situation.

The second most frequently asked question is about our statewide
subscription. With regard to that, we are in the midst of a grant bid
evaluation process that includes Northstar, so we are unable to negotiate
further extensions at this time. However, we do not expect the access will
be removed until those negotiations are complete. We are hoping for more
information soon.
