STATE ARCHIVIST
The Ohio Historical Society seeks a State Archivist to oversee all
activities of the State Archives of Ohio, including its local government
records program. The incumbent will plan, implement, evaluate and expand
an archival program that preserves and provides access to state and
local government records. 
 
Other responsibilities include coordinating the transfer of state
government records to the State Archives according to established
records retention schedules; leading efforts to address evolving
archival issues, including managing electronic records and increasing
funding support for state archival and local government records.  The
State Archivist is also responsible for preparing and monitoring the
State Archives operating budget and developing grant and earned revenue
proposals.
 
Qualifications include a strong knowledge of and experience with
archival and records management principles, theories, trends, and
current research, together with expertise in database management,
digital imaging systems, Internet access issues, and electronic records
issues. Candidates should possess a graduate degree in history, library
science or archival studies, together with formal archival training and
a minimum of five years of professional archives/library experience.
