[SOA] Deadline Extended: SOA Poster Session Submissions

The deadline for submissions of poster session abstracts for the Society of Ohio Archivists meeting has been extended to Monday, April 10 at noon. SOA members, please pass this information on to your students and encourage them to participate. Poster sessions are an excellent way to share research with colleagues and meet professional archivists throughout the state. Students who participate in poster sessions are eligible for a discounted conference registration of $15 (includes lunch both days), and cash prizes are offered to poster session winners. The Society of Ohio Archivists Poster Session Submissions are due Monday, April 3, 2006. (Final posters do not need to be completed until April 20.) Poster sessions allow students to share research results with colleagues, and network with professional archivists throughout the state. Students in archives, library, history and related fields are encouraged to submit proposals. 

Poster sessions do not have to relate to the conference theme. Sample topics include: case studies of Ohio archives/libraries/ museums; research projects utilizing archival materials; studies of archival digitization projects; examinations of EAD, MARC and other standards; other archives-related topics 

The Ohio Historical Society will host the conference April 19-21, 2006. Poster sessions will be presented at the conference's evening reception on April 20, 2006. Students should be available to discuss their posters and answer questions at the reception, and winners will be announced following the reception. Students presenting poster sessions are eligible for the discounted conference rate of $15. First prize for the contest is $100, second prize is $50, and third prize is $25.
