[SOA] SOA Preliminary Program Now Online

The preliminary program for the Society of Ohio Archivists Spring Conference is now online at: http://www.ohioarchivists.org/conference/program.html  This year's conference features twelve sessions based on the theme, "Moving Archival Basics Into the Future." Sessions are:

*	Advocacy for History in Ohio
*	Planning For Tomorrow When Today Is Here And Now: Disaster Planning For The Practical Archivist  
*	OhioLINK EAD Task Force Update 
*	National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) Funding in Ohio 
*	The OCLC Digital Archive: A Digital Preservation Case Study 
*	Developing and Executing Exhibits 
*	Photoshop: An Archival Perspective 
*	Privacy and Public Records Issues for Archivists 
*	New Developments in Digital Ohio
*	Outreach from the Archives 
*	Access, Preservation, and Interchange: Digital Imaging with JPEG 2000

Max Evans, Executive Director of NHPRC will deliver the plenary on Thursday, April 20, and John Haas of the Ohio Historical Society will speak on his book, To Battle for God and the Right: The Civil War Letterbooks of Emerson Opdycke on Friday, April 21. Other events include: Tours of the Ohio Governor's Mansion, the State Library of Ohio and the Ohio Historical Society; a Silent Auction; Poster Sessions; and the annual Business Meeting and Elections. 

 

A pre-conference workshop titled, "Scrapbook Preservation: Challenges and Opportunities for Archivists and Preservation Librarians" will be held on Wednesday, April 19. Registration is limited to 25 people. Register now, as seats are filling up fast! 

 

Be sure to register by April 10, 2006 to receive the pre-registration rate. (Registrations received after April 10 will be an additional $10 and will not include lunch). Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
