Dear Colleagues,
At The Ohio State University, the Archives is in the process of
developing a two hour workshop on records management for University
staff.  A brief description is:

P aper and Bytes: Policies, Best Practices, and Resources for
Managing OSU Records."

The Ohio State University, as a public institution, must comply with
laws governing public records. Effective compliance can only be
achieved in an environment of proper records retention and
management. Participants in this workshop will become more
knowledgeable about University policies, legal requirements, and best
practices concerning the retention, management and disposition of
records in their care. Those attending will leave with the answers to
questions such as:
    * "Is this a record?"
    * "How long should I keep it?"
    * "Does Archives want it?"
    * "How do I destroy it"? and
    * "Where can I find more information?"

If you are conducting workshops in records management, please let me
know. We would like to take a look at your instructional materials
as we prepare our own.

Thanks,
Rai
