[SOA] Internship: Manuscripts Cataloging Intern

The Ohio Historical Society, located in Columbus, Ohio, has an opening
for a Manuscripts Cataloging Intern. Essential duties and
responsibilities include:
* Creating original records for manuscript collections in a MARC
based cataloging system.
* Updating existing records to meet current cataloging standards.
* Adding or updating physical locations for manuscript collections
in MARC records.
* Other duties as assigned.
Candidates should show progress towards a master's degree in library and
information science or related field. Qualifications should also
include: ability to collect, organize, and analyze data; beginning
knowledge of MARC 21 for Bibliographic Data; beginning knowledge of
applying Library of Congress Subject Headings; and an interest in
obtaining professional experience in archives. Some experience working
in an automated cataloging system preferred. Candidates must have
completed introductory-level cataloging coursework.
The successful candidate will receive a stipend of $1,000 upon
completion of the internship. Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours
per week for a semester (not to exceed four months). Work hours will be
scheduled between 8 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday. To apply, send
