Subject:        Paid Student Internship Positions at National Museum of the
US Air Force 

The Research Division Archives of the National Museum of the US Air Force
invites applications for paid student Internship positions.

Full time Paid Summer Positions 

Internships with possibility of continuing year round for history, or
related field, students interested in learning about archives in a museum
setting and working with and digitizing archival materials.  Applicants must
be enrolled in a degree-seeking program; those applicants who are graduating
this spring must be accepted into a graduate level program in order to be
eligible.  

The Intern will work directly with the Museum Manuscript Curator or the
Reference Manuscript Curator.  Projects will be selected by one of the
Curators and may include the following activities:

Digitize photograph collection 
Prepare items for exhibition 
Produce finding aids for special collections 
Perform preservation techniques on collections 
Catalog research materials 
Answer research inquiries 

The projects selected will depend upon the needs of the Archives and the
requirements of the internship.  The Museum Manuscript Curator or the
Reference Manuscript Curator and the Intern will develop an overview of the
projects that will be worked on during the internship.  

Division Information 
The mission of the Research Division is to support the mission of the
National Museum of the United States Air Force by acquiring, organizing,
preserving, and making available documentary materials that chronicle the
development of Air Force aviation and space flight.  The Division performs
curatorial work and historical research for the Museum.  It provides limited
support for government agencies, organizations, and individuals who use its
resources for their own historical research, and answers written requests
for historical information from these groups.  In addition, the Division
acts as the Museum's corporate memory by maintaining historical files
pertaining to the Museum itself and writing the Museum's annual history.
