Hello everyone,
The Society of Ohio Archivists is pleased to announce this year's
Continuing Education Stipend Scholarship for attendance at "Symbiosis:
Tradition and Technology" May 8-9, 2008 at OCLC in Dublin, Ohio. The
conference will focus on both traditional archival techniques and the
role of technology in archives. A pre-conference workshop with
OhioLINK's EAD Task Force will be held May 7. Program registration and
information will be available within the next couple of days.
Two applicants will be selected to receive the stipend. One recipient,
who resides within 50 miles from the conference site, will receive free
conference registration. The other recipient must live more than 50
miles away from the conference site. This recipient will receive free
registration and $150 to cover travel and hotel accommodations.
Eligibility is open to all current SOA members and to all graduate
students pursuing a career in archives.
Applications will be rated based on:
1. A written statement describing how attending the annual conference
will benefit future career goals or his/her current professional
position
2. A biographical sketch listing accomplishments, research interests and
future plans
3. Applicant's scholarship and contribution to archives, in comparison
with his/her number of years in the field or academic study
4. Applicant's level of financial support for attending the conference
Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 18, 2008. The recipients are
expected to attend two days of the conference and will be recognized at
the SOA Business Meeting. Also, both recipients will be asked to write
an article in the Ohio Archivist reflecting on their experiences at the
conference.
Please e-mail, fax, or mail applications to myself (contact information
is below).
Best,
Katy
