Subject: [digipres] Register Now! Digital Preservation Management
Symposium, Nov. 7 & 8
The Midwest Archives Conference is hosting a Symposium on Digital
Preservation Management in beautiful, historic Lawrence, Kansas (home of
the University of Kansas) on Nov. 7 and 8th.
This one and a half day symposium will be lead by Nancy Y. McGovern, the
digital preservation officer for the University of Michigan's
Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). She
is also co-developer of Cornell's highly respected *Digital Preservation
Management workshop series*. This workshop is predicated on the need for
institutions to combine organizational and technological perspectives to
devise an appropriate response to the challenges that digital preservation
requirements present. The workshop schedule centers around three action
plan sessions for policy, technology and resource frameworks. They were
developed to assist you in designing and implementing an approach that will
work for your institution. Each action plan references exemplars from real
programs and potential building blocks for your frameworks.
Symposium attendees are eligible to earn seven archival recertification
credits from the Academy of Certified Archivists. Registration rate
includes supplemental handouts and access to an online tutorial to be
completed by participants in advance of the event.
To register for the symposium, visit our online registration hosted by the
University of Kansas Continuing Education office (credit cards
accepted) at:
