Midwest Archives Conference
ANNUAL MEETING 2010
Call for Proposals
Chicago, Illinois
April 22-24, 2010
Deadline for Submission *Extended*: Friday, August 21, 2009
The Midwest Archives Conference invites submissions of presentations,
sessions, workshops, and papers, for its annual meeting, to be held
April 22-24, 2010 in Chicago, Illinois. The MAC Program Committee
invites proposals on all aspects of archives and archival work, but is
also seeking proposals that focus on the meeting's theme of "Chicago:
Cultural Crossroads."
Chicago, and the entire Midwest in fact, is known for the wide and
rich ethnic diversity it cherishes, a patchwork quilt of immigrant
communities from all over the world. Chicago was also the destination
of millions of African Americans during the two Great Migration waves
of twentieth century. Furthermore, nearly every religious group can be
found in Chicago and the Midwest, and, a large gay, lesbian and
transgender community enjoys the friendly, tolerant and welcoming
climate of Chicago, Illinois, and neighboring states.
We encourage creative and timely presentations that will engage
archivists and records managers from all types of organizations.
Proposals from graduate students and from professionals in allied
fields are very welcome.
Typical sessions are 90 minutes in length with three panelists and a
chair or moderator. Individual proposals that need additional
presenters or fine-tuning will also be considered, although fully-
realized proposals are preferred. Early proposal submissions are
encouraged!
Please submit proposals by August 21, 2009. The required submission
form is downloadable from
http://www.midwestarchives.org/2010Spring/MAC2010CallforProposals.rtf .
(To submit a session proposal, please save the form to your computer,
complete it, and then send it via E-mail or traditional mail to one of
the cochairs listed below.)
