A SPACE ODYSSEY: STORAGE STRATEGIES FOR CULTURAL COLLECTIONS 

presented by the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts

in partnership with the Midwest Art Conservation Center

 

St. Paul, MN

 

October 12 & 13, 2010

 

This comprehensive 2-day program will address storage planning needs for
institutions of all sizes.  

 

Experts in the field of design, space planning, and environmental
control will speak about practical methods and applications to improve
and maximize storage spaces for cultural collections. Sessions will
include case studies that demonstrate the implementation of storage
initiatives and will address:

 

Planning for Storage Projects

*             The essentials of collections storage 

*             Allocating resources and funding for collections storage
projects

*             Space planning

*             Case study on funding, planning and building new
collections storage 

 

Environmental Control and Implementation

*             Understanding HVAC systems

*             Factors for selection in off-site storage

*             Retrofitting less than ideal storage spaces

*             Open storage

*             Moving collections

 

Hosted and cosponsored by the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul,
MN 

 

The fee for this two-day program is $225 for CCAHA and MACC members and
$250 for non-members.*  

 

Major funding for this program was provided by the National Endowment
for the Humanities.
