Subject: [OPC List] Upcoming symposium: "Digital Preparedness and Recovery"
The Northeast Ohio chapter of the Alliance for Response<http://www.heritagepreservation.org/AfR/Ohio/index.html> is offering a half-day symposium entitled, "Digital Media: Disaster Preparedness and Recovery." This symposium will be held on Monday October 18th, from 9AM to 12PM at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Cleveland.
Our keynote speaker is Tom Clareson from LYRASIS and Heritage Preservation, who will speak on "Digital Preservation and Disaster Preparedness: National Developments." We will also feature experts on information technology including: Mark Kavinsky, Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer from Skynet Solutions, LLC.; Adam Wead, Systems and Digital Collections Librarian at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum; and Jill Tatem, University Archivist at Case Western Reserve University.
Although the symposium is free to the public, registration is required. Please email ICA Director of Education Nicole Hayes at nhayes at ica-artconservation.org<mailto:nhayes at ica-artconservation.org> by October 15.
Parking is available at the Great Lakes Science Center for a reduced rate of $7 with validation from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Please arrive no earlier than 8:30AM. The symposium will start promptly at 9AM.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum<http://rockhall.com/> is open to staff of Ohio museums for the remainder of the day free of charge. If you are a library staff member, free admission might be available, please indicate interest at registration.
