MANAGING AND PRESERVING ARCHIVAL COLLECTIONS 

presented by the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts

May 25 & 26, 2010

 

Attendees of this two-day program will learn archival management and
preservation activities to improve intellectual control over
collections, increase collections accessibility, and assist in long-term
preservation initiatives.    This program is an overview of archival
best practices and is intended for anyone who works with archival
collections.

 

Day 1

AN INTRODUCTION TO ARCHIVAL MANAGEMENT: APPRAISAL, ARRANGEMENT, AND
DESCRIPTION 

presented by Beth Bensman, Certified Archivist, Archives Specialist,
National Archives and Records Administration, Mid-Atlantic Region

 

Day 2

ARCHIVES PRESERVATION: MAINTAINING AND PROTECTING COLLECTIONS

presented by Hilary A. Kaplan, formerly Senior Conservator in
Preservation Programs, now Training Specialist in Modern Records
Programs, National Archives and Records Administration
