The Columbus Jewish Historical Society is seeking an archivist/librarian.  This is a part time position consisting of up to 24 hours per week.  Retired or seasoned professional with real world archives and managerial experience required.

Position Responsibilities:

*         Acquisition, accession, processing, and cataloguing of new additions to the 30 year old collection of central Ohio judaica including paper, artifacts, oral histories, and photographs.

*         Manage and direct the completion of a transition of existing collection to Past Perfect

*         Maintain and develop library collection of genealogical and reference books

*         Prepare and mount exhibits throughout the year in various venues ,both alone and with Trustee direction, and manage the associated props

*         Direct growing volunteer and internship programs

*         Provide assistance to membership, Trustees, organizations, and the public with Jewish historical and genealogical research.

*         Ability to present goals and mission of organization to potential program partners and donors, and at programs in both a speaking and writing capacity.



Position Requirements:

*         Masters degree in archival administration, library science, museum studies or similar education with experience in archives and library management

*         Knowledge of Jewish history and customs; knowledge of genealogical research

*         Strong communication skills

*         Ability to plan, organize, and complete multiple projects and physical exhibits at one time

*         Ability to handle the job's physical demands- setting up and taking down off site exhibits, moving boxes and display props up and down stairs.

*         Experience with Past Perfect, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

*         Significant experience supervising other employees, student interns, and volunteers.

*         Experience working with Boards

*         Grant writing experience a plus

*         As a member of a small staff, this individual will be expected to participate in activities that require the support of all the staff.  This includes but is not limited to staff meetings, major events and special open hours.  This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.
