Kenyon College seeks a forward-thinking, service-oriented, collaborative leader for our next Special Collections Librarian for the Greenslade Special Collections and Archives in Kenyon's Olin and Chalmers Libraries. The Special Collections Librarian works in the Library and Information Services division of Kenyon College, one of the nation's finest liberal arts colleges, where 1,600 young men and women study with nearly 200 professors on an exceptionally beautiful hilltop campus in central Ohio. The collection holds the Kenyon College Archives, including material dating from the founding of the college in 1824, and Kenyon's special collections, including individual books of high research value as well as specialized subject collections for researchers. This is a full time position that includes a generous benefits package.

Position Includes:
* Provide leadership for physical and digital special collections including acquisitions, custodianship, conservation, and preservation, description, reference, instruction, and digital and physical access.
* Collaborate closely with faculty and subject librarians to integrate special collections and archives into teaching, learning, and research.
* Oversee the development of organizational processes and systems for effectively managing the acquisition, processing and description, access, and preservation for collections in all formats.
* Work with others inside and outside of the division to design and maintain a digitization program for preservation of and access to unique collections; determine selection criteria, standards, resource needs, and system requirements.
* Develop partnerships at the college, state, regional, and national level to address issues and challenges facing special collections in the digital environment.
* Foster broad-based collaborations and partnerships with academic and administrative departments, consortial partners, granting agencies, and the college alumni and donor community.
* Coordinate departmental planning and priorities including the effective management and utilization of space and services in partnership with the Archives Librarian.
* Develop, revise, and implement policies, procedures, and strategies.
* Review and update on a regular basis the Greenslade Special Collections collection development plan to align with college priorities and existing areas of emphasis.
* Manage personnel, equipment, and fiscal resources in a responsible manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Library and Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or other relevant master's degree.
* A minimum of three years' experience in archives and/or special collections services in an academic, research, special, museum or public library setting.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders including students, faculty, staff and the research community orally, in writing and through public presentation.
* Additional advanced degree and/or specific coursework in archival preservation and management.
* Demonstrated understanding of issues, trends, principles, and practices in archives and special collections through coursework and professional experience.
* Ability to work both independently and collegially in a rapidly changing environment.
* Excellent organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
* Reading knowledge of at least one second language.
* Demonstrated understanding of preservation and conservation practice and issues for both print and digital materials.
* Demonstrated experience in technological applications and in directing technological applications in libraries or archives, including digitization and electronic records.
* Familiarity with digitization projects, digital formatting standards, and related metadata schemas, including EAD and Dublin Core; and proficiency with desktop computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google Tools.
* Experience arranging and describing archival and/or manuscript collections.
