LLOYD LIBRARY AND MUSEUM ANNOUNCES LLOYD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP FOR 2015-16
Curtis Gate Lloyd Research Fellowships Announcement
Application Due Date, January 15, 2015
Cincinnati, OH - October 28, 2014: The Lloyd Library and Museum is
pleased to announce the call for submissions for the next round of
Research Fellowships, effective for the 2015-16 academic year. This
will be the 3rd year the Library has offered this program for
researchers, who must have at least a BA/BS degree to qualify.
The Fellowship is named for the youngest Lloyd brother of Lloyd
Brothers, Pharmacists, Inc. (1885-1936), Curtis Gates Lloyd, who
ultimately took the company's Library under his wing and helped grow it
into the largest medicinal botany library in the western hemisphere.
The Fellowships are for a period of one to three months; proposals
should be primarily based on resources from the Lloyd Library's vast and
diverse collections. Research topics can include, but are not limited
to the following:
* Medicinal Botany (Including non-Western medical traditions)
* Organic/Botanical/Medicinal Chemistry
* Natural History
* Early travel and exploration
* Ethnobotany
* History of Science, Medicine, Pharmacy (including Alchemy)
* Pharmacognosy/Natural Product Development
* Visual Arts
* Cultural, Ethnic, and Social history
Past awardees have completed projects in the fields of botany, history -
exploration and plant, sociology, and art (covering a wide array of
visual topics). To read more about the program and projects, visit

the 19th century as a research library for Lloyd Brothers Pharmacists,
Inc., one of the leading pharmaceutical companies of the period. Our
mission is to collect and maintain a library of botanical, medical,

allied sciences that serve the scientific research community, as well as
