The Kettering Foundation is pleased to annouce they have an opening for a temporary contract archivist. The Kettering Foundation is a nonprofit operating foundation rooted in the American tradition of cooperative research. Kettering’s primary research question is, what does it take to make democracy work as it should? Kettering’s research is distinctive because it is conducted from the perspective of citizens and focuses on what people can do collectively to address problems affecting their lives, their communities, and their nation.

Temporary part time work / Internship
Kettering Foundation, Dayton, Ohio

The Kettering Foundation is seeking a graduate student or recent graduate looking to develop their skills in archival processing and digital archiving.  This position will be a temporary contract position, at 15 hours per week. Academic credit may be received depending on college program.

Key Responsibilities


·      Perform activities necessary to conduct and manage digitization projects

·      Process collections of archival collections
·      Assist Archivist with collection maintenance and help manage physical space needs

·      Assist Archivist with the re-housing of collections following best practices for storage and preservation

·      Data entry

Basic Qualifications


·      Successful completion of Introduction to Archives course
·      Outstanding organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

·      Capacity to work independently and with other members of a team

·      Basic computer skills and previous experience with FileMaker Pro

·      Must be able to lift at least forty pounds
