Program Description: Attendees will be trained in both the prevention of and response to a variety of paper records disasters. Attendees will also walk away with an understanding around key components of disaster recovery planning, policy and procedure best practices, safety concerns associated with various types of record damage incidents, funding and insurance coverage requirements, and storage needs.

Speaker Bio:

Bill Gulley holds a B.A. in History from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and has completed coursework for a graduate certificate in archival administration, Wayne State University (WSU). He was a collection archivist for three labor unions (1998-2022) at the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs (ALUA), Walter P. Reuther Library, WSU. He then became an applications specialist for the ALUA (2002-2013) as a self-proclaimed "archivist providing IT support for Archives." Gulley started his current employment with Document Freeze Drying (DFD) Restoration Services as an archives and records management specialist in November 2013. In his current position he trains archivists and records managers in "do's and don'ts" for damaged paper records recovery as well as disaster planning. Also, he serves as a project manager for damaged document recovery efforts.
