Good morning,

As part of DPLA Ohio, a free one-day training is being offered at the State Library on April 28th from 9 AM-3 PM.
DPLA Ohio is a group of digitization professionals whose goal is to create a portal for cultural heritage institutions of all sizes to submit objects to DPLA allowing for items to be searchable in one location.  To prepare for this, DPLA Ohio aims to provide cultural heritage institutions with training and resources to have their holdings digitized.
DPLA Ohio representatives Jillian Carney, Manager for Digital Services at the Ohio History Connection, Katy Klettlinger, Library Consultant at the State Library of Ohio, and Shannon Kupfer, Digital Initiatives Librarian at the State Library of Ohio will provide an overview of the digitization process.
Topics to be discussed include: in-house digitization v. outsourcing, selecting materials, equipment needs, metadata requirements, copyright, preservation, project management practices, and grant opportunities.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for responding to the digitization survey which was conducted as part of the Ohio Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) in Ohio planning grant.

In your survey submission, you noted that you plan to digitize your holdings in the near future and/or would like to learn how to get started in the process.  To assist in accomplishing your goal, the Ohio DPLA Community Representatives will be providing a FREE one-day digitization training at the State Library on Thursday, April 28th from 10 AM-3 PM.

The training will be led by Jillian Carney, Manager for Digital Services at the Ohio History Connection, Katy Klettlinger, Library Consultant at the State Library of Ohio, and Shannon Kupfer, Digital Initiatives Librarian at the State Library of Ohio.  All three presenters serve as Community Reps to DPLA.

Below is a link to a quick, online survey that will assist us in learning about what digitization related topics are important to workshop participants.  While we will cover beginning digitization as a whole, we would like to focus on questions that are of interest to you.
