Please join the Ohio Digitization Interest Group at our RESCHEDULED January meeting at 10am on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at the State Library of Ohio.
Please register by Tues 1/19, 5pm. Please register again even if you already registered for the cancelled 1/12 meeting.
Theme: Equipment: Book Scanners
Speakers:
- Lily Birkhimer, digital projects coordinator, Digital Services Department, Ohio History Connection
- Aaron O'Donovan, digitization & local history librarian, Columbus Metropolitan Library
- Megan Mitchell, digital initiatives coordinator, Oberlin College Library
Synopsis: Many of us are looking to update or newly acquire equipment for book capture. Panelists will discuss their experiences with evaluating and acquiring new book scanning equipment for various use cases. There will be time for questions and for attendees to share their own experiences. In addition, Shannon Kupfer will show off SLO's brand new digitization lab space and equipment (new Zeutschel and older Indus book scanners) immediately following the panel.

- Food: Coffee & cookies will be offered at the start of the meeting. Lunch will be brown bag.
- Cost: There is no fee for attending, but we will be accepting donations for the coffee kitty.

- 10:00-10:30 coffee social (coffee & cookies);
- 10:30-11:30 presentation and discussion on topic;
- 11:30-11:40 quick tour of SLO digitization lab space
- 11:40-11:50 break;
- 11:50-1:00 brown bag lunch: all-attendee updates, "members" meeting, discussion;
- 1:15- optional: small group discussions (user groups, birds of a feather);
