The University of Minnesota Libraries and ASTR’s American Theatre Archive
Project (ATAP) are co-hosting What’s Past is Prologue: Theatre Archives
Now, a workshop for theatre artists, scholars, dramaturgs, archivists,
information professionals, and students with an interest in preserving and
sustaining the artifacts of performance history. The event will take place
at the Andersen Library on the University of Minnesota campus between
9:00am and 1:30pm on Thursday, November 3. After hearing from guest speaker
Ben Krywosz, Artistic Director of the Nautilus Music-Theater, participants
will bring their varied perspectives and experiences to discussions about
the importance of collecting and maintaining the records of theatre
history, and about how individuals can work together with artists to
support this essential work.

Full details about the event are available on the ATAP website: http://www.

workshop-minneapolis/

Send your news and photos to us!

The ATAP Steering Committee encourages team members and theatre companies
who have worked with them to share photos and other information related to
current or past ATAP Initiations, recent discoveries in the archives, or
examples of how theatres are using archives in their work, with ATAP so
that they might be featured on the project website or in future
newsletters. Send relevant links, photos, and news to communications@
americantheatrearchiveproject.org.

Gratitude

ATAP is deeply grateful to the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the
Americas (LMDA), which has recently become a funding partner to ATAP
through offering generous financial support to ASTR on behalf of the
project. This support will help sustain the administration of ATAP as well
as help create new opportunities to harness the expertise of professional
archivists for the benefit of theatres and theatre artists.

Coming next week to NYC…

The annual Theatre Library Association (TLA) Symposium will take place
Thursday, October 13 at the Judson Memorial Church in New York City. The
program is focused on the topic of fringe festivals. ATAP Steering
Committee Member Colleen Reilly will be speaking on the topic of fringe
festival archives. ATAP is grateful to Colleen for drawing attention to the
importance of fringe materials as part of our global performance heritage.
