[SOA] Register for OhioDIG May 4 - Digital Storytelling, Oral History, and Accessibility - Wright State University in Dayton

Please join the Ohio Digitization Interest Group at our May meeting at 10am on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Wright State University Libraries, Dayton.

Presentation: "Digital Storytelling, Oral History, and Accessibility"
Panelists:
 - Will Davis, manager of the New Media Incubator at Wright State University (http://bit.ly/2oNy0Uk), will present on digital storytelling. He will talk about how to move beyond your typical oral history to engage your users. Will serves as producer and editor for the WYSO radio series "Veterans Voices."
- Seth Gordon, director of the Veteran and Military Center at Wright State, will present on the Veterans Voices Project (http://wyso.org/topic/veterans-voices). The project, born out an oral history class, has veterans encouraging other veterans to share their story.
- Jane Wildermuth, head of Digital Initiatives and Repository Services at Wright State, will show how materials from the WYSO series and the oral histories are added to Wright State's institutional repository (http://corescholar.libraries.wright.edu/veterans_voices/).
- Jocelyn Robinson, WYSO Digital Archives Fellow, will present on how Rediscovered Radio (http://wyso.org/topic/rediscovered-radio) is making over 200 hours of broadcasts from the 1960s and 70s accessible by providing the user with context and commentary.

- Host/Program: Jane Wildermuth, Wright State University
- Food: Coffee & cookies will be offered at the start of the meeting. Lunch will be brown bag. As students are not on campus this week, campus options will be scarce. However, a variety of chain restaurants are close to campus--an easy stop on the way to the meeting.
- Cost: There is no fee for attending, but we will be accepting donations for the refreshment kitty.

- 10:00-10:30 Coffee social (coffee & cookies);
- 10:30-11:30 Presentation and discussion on topic;
- 11:30-11:45 Break (rearrange tables);
- 11:45-1:00 Brown bag lunch: announcements, all-attendee updates, discussion;
- 1:10- Optional Tours: both will last for 45 minutes and be offered 2x.
    - Tour 1: Digital Services / Special Collections & Archives
    - Tour 2: New Media Incubator / Student Technology Assistance Center (STAC: 3D printing, podcast room, e-learning studio)
