On Thursday, March 9, at 7:30 PM, The Aldus Society presents *The Art of
Printmaking* presented by Sergio Soave, Professor, The Ohio State
University. The meeting takes place at The Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson
Ave., Columbus.

The inclusion of prints in books has been an integral part of publishing
for centuries, yet few people are intimately familiar with the many
processes – intaglio, relief, planographic, and so on – used to produce
them. Professor Sergio Soave will give us an overview of the various
techniques, their preparation, and execution.

Professor Soave currently serves as chair of the art department at The
Ohio State University. His computer works, lithographs, etchings and
silkscreens have been included in more than 120 regional, national, and
international exhibitions and in many permanent collections.

He helped establish the OSU Urban Arts Space, an exhibition/community
facility located in the downtown core. He also leads the OSU Public Arts
Committee and is spearheading commissions of significant works by noted
artists.

The Aldus Society is an organization for people who appreciate the many
facets of text and image through various media, but principally the book,
past, present and future. Aldus provides a wide variety of programs and
activities on book collecting, the history of printing, publishing, and
book selling, book illustration, book design, book bindings, paper making,
typography, calligraphy, and libraries.

This month’s pre-program socializing begins at 700 p.m. allowing members
and guests time to discuss their latest bibliophilic adventures. The
program is free and open to the public.
