House Appropriations Committee Approves FY 20 Funding for Key History Programs

On May 8, the House Appropriations Committee marked up the fiscal year (FY) 2020 Labor, HHS and Education appropriations bill. It includes good news for programs and agencies of importance to the historical community. The Committee rejected efforts by the Trump administration to eliminate three programs. Arsonist Sets Fire at the National Archives Building in DC
On April 25, a fire was set outside the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. No one was injured, and the building sustained some damage to the exterior wall. A defendant was indicted by a grand jury on May 6 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on one count of arson. NEH Awards Grants to Digitize Essential Humanities Books
