Organizing a volunteer event or a collaborative staff service day in a collections care department can provide an opportunity to make progress on a rehousing, cleaning, moving, or other project that benefits from many people working together. Even a small organization can provide a meaningful and engaging event that achieves a goal, while bolstering the community around the collection. This session will discuss planning and executing a volunteer event with collections, including logistics, training, agendas, and identifying and communicating with participants.

This session is intended for staff in libraries, archives, museums, or other cultural heritage institutions who have a role in collections care at their institution. This may include preservation and conservation professionals, registrars, archivists, special collections staff, or other collections care stakeholders who are interested in organizing a volunteer event.
