Subject: [EAD] Encoded Archival Standards: A Primer - video tutorial now available

The Society of American Archivists' Encoded Archival Standards (EAS) Section<https://www2.archivists.org/groups/encoded-archival-standards-section> Steering Committee and the Technical Subcommittee for Encoded Archival Standards (TS-EAS)<https://www2.archivists.org/groups/technical-subcommittee-on-encoded-archival-standards-ts-eas> are excited to announce the availability of "Encoded Archival Standards: A Primer":

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYWQeBRnhz0

This brief video tutorial introduces new users--archivists, curators, administrators, educators, and beyond--to Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Encoded Archival Contexts - Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families (EAC-CPF). Written by Kathy Wisser with the assistance of Betts Coup, Adrian Turner, and Caitlin Wells, the primer outlines the purposes, contexts, and histories of each standard, and gives introductions to each standard's structure and content. Further information about the maintenance of the standards and where to go for more detailed resources and guidance is also provided.

The EAS Section Steering Committee and TS-EAS are hard at work on further freely-available tutorials of this kind, informed by the feedback we received from a 2019-20 survey<https://www2.archivists.org/groups/encoded-archival-standards-section/eas-2019-2020-section-survey-results> conducted by the EAS Section. If you have ideas for tutorials related to encoded archival standards or would like to be a part of this work, please contact eas.section.saa at gmail.com<mailto:eas.section.saa at gmail.com>.
