Any repository that holds archival records or special collections is eligible to apply for a grant. The repository need not be a member of SSA or SAA. Grant monies may be used for the direct recovery of damaged or at-risk archival materials; such services as freeze drying, storage, transportation of materials, and rental facilities; supplies, including acid-free boxes and folders, storage cartons, cleaning materials, plastic milk crates, and protective gear; and to defray the costs for volunteers or other laborers who assist with the recovery.

May Day! May Day! May is National Preservation Month, so what better reason do you need to join the SAA Preservation Section for a May Day Coffee Chat?!

The Coffee Chat will focus on the National Disaster Recovery Fund for Archives<https://www2.archivists.org/groups/saa-foundation-board-of-directors/national-disaster-recovery-fund-for-archives> and will feature speakers from organizations that received the grant:

  *   Dra. Mercy Delgado, Librarian II, University of Puerto Rico Bayamón Library
  *   Kayla Bleho, Collections and Digital Access Manager, Newport Historical Society
  *   Douglas Naselroad, director of the Appalachian School of Luthiery/Museum of the Mountain Dulcimer
  *   Drew Moomey, Director of Development, and Jacob Huss, Historical Programs and Exhibitions Manager, Midland Center for the Arts

Former SAA Foundation NDRFA Grant Review Committee chair Miriam Meislik, Media Curator/Archives & Special Collections/ University of Pittsburgh Library System, will also talk about the grant process and how the committee evaluates grant applications.

The Coffee Chat will take place on Wednesday, May 1, from from 2pm - 3:30pm ET.
