Topic: Demystifying Digital Preservation
Alyssa Pierce, she/her, digital preservation librarian, Kelvin Smith Library, Case Western Reserve University Preservation Services.
Building off of first-hand experience developing a digital preservation program from the ground up, this presentation will break down the process into a set of five questions you can use for evaluation and a set of five steps you can use to build or improve your program iteratively. We will go over what digital objects are, how their properties shape our preservation choices, and different ways that you can meet those needs, with an emphasis on right-sizing digital preservation solutions for your individual situation.
