Session proposals are being accepted until 10/16/26.
The banners have come down and the celebrations have passed, but the work is far from over. In the wake of 250, museums find themselves at a pivotal moment. Shaped by what we've accomplished and energized by what comes next, what do we carry forward and what do we leave behind?
Moving Forward - What Comes Next? invites museum professionals to build on the energy, lessons and momentum of 250 while reimagining how we lead, adapt, and serve in a world that continues to shift. This is a moment to challenge what's been stagnant, spark new ideas, and move with purpose into the future we are actively creating.
Together, we'll explore how to turn reflection into action-from navigating a polarized environment to preparing the next generation of leaders, to what emerging technologies mean for museums, and how to sustain relevance and public trust.
How do we maintain the energy of a milestone moment? How do we build resilient, responsive institutions that continue to meet the needs of their communities in a rapidly changing world? Submit your session proposal now for the 2027 annual conference of the Ohio Museums Association as we explore best practices and innovative ideas in Ohio museums. We're seeking session proposals that will foster dynamic conversations around:

  *   Museums as Civic Spaces
  *   Succession planning: setting our organizations up for future success with internal practices, the next gen of leaders, and meeting the needs of our communities through programs and initiatives; how to develop boards and keep them engaged
  *   Succeeding and Growing in a Polarized Environment: how to move forward to serve our missions and community when funding, topics of study, & education subjects are polarized; telling the whole story & being truthful, trustworthy organizations
  *   The Future of Diversity, Accessibility, Equity and Inclusion: how museums are embedding this important work into our values and the structure of who we are
  *   Technology for the Future: how museums are using tech and incorporating (or not using) AI in practical exhibits, interactive tours, & more; how do we balance capacity with supporting creatives
  *   Financial Growth and Resilience: how to grow on a tight budget, development and donor relations,financial best practices, grants and other funders, finding and cultivating diverse funding sources
  *   Big Picture Questions for the Future: addressing worker needs, HR and recruitment issues, climate change, remaining relevant, and more
  *   Other topics of importance to your museum
