[SOA] SOA Supports MAC Statement on the Proposed Closures of NARA Regional Record Centers

The Society of Ohio Archivists supports and amplifies the MAC Statement on
the Proposed Closures of NARA Regional Record Centers, below.

*MAC Statement on the Proposed Closures of NARA Regional Record Centers*

Our MAC Council is alarmed by the National Archives and Records
Administration’s (NARA) plan to close three of its regional
locations—Chicago, Seattle, and San Bruno, CA—in the coming years. This
will have devastating effects on local users’ abilities to access
historically significant federal records as well as the impacted archival
staff who have decades of knowledge and expertise working with the records
themselves. The Council has released a statement regarding the recent
