The Diversity Awareness & Resources Committee of the Ohio Library Council
announces the availability of its new website - http://www.olc/diversity/
<http://www.olc/diversity/> . The website was created as a resource for
Ohio libraries. You will find links to materials to assist you in serving
Ohio's diverse population, including bibliographies and publishers of
non-English-language materials, services and materials for people with
disabilities, a tip sheet for writing Hispanic/Latino community grants,
multicultural bookmarks that can be easily downloaded, bilingual PR
materials, and much more.
The website will also be used to highlight upcoming events and the best
diversity practices of Ohio libraries. Mark your calendars now for the 2004
statewide Diversity Conference scheduled for August 17-18, 2004, at the
Embassy Suites Hotel in Dublin. The Spectrum Dinner, which supports ALA's
Spectrum Initiative to recruit minority librarians, will be sponsored by
OCLC as a special feature of the 2004 Conference.
The Committee thanks the Ohio Library Council for its continued commitment
to diversity, and Maggie Bollar of the New Carlisle Public Library, Janet
Ingraham-Dwyer of Worthington Libraries, and Scott Debney at OHIONET for
their work on the site.
To keep the website viable, the Committee encourages you to submit ideas and
resources. The site includes a convenient email link for you to contact us.
