POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Children's Reference and Selection Assistant
Tuscarawas County Public Library
New Philadelphia, OH

Located in a rural community a half hour south of Canton, the Tuscarwas
County Public Library seeks an energetic, outgoing, service-oriented
candidate who enjoys working with children.  Full and part time candidates
are being considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Duties will include providing reference and reader's 
advisory services to children and adults who work with children; assisting
patrons with the Internet, computers and iPACS; providing programs to K-6
children, as well as educators and parents; creating bibliographies,
pathfinder and bookmarks to assist patrons; assisting with selection of
juvenile materials; creating displays to market library materials; and
working on the circulation desk.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor's degree. Proficiency in searching Internet as well
as print sources.  Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft
Word and Microsoft Access is also required.  Experience working with
children is preferred.  Schedule includes evenings and weekends during the
school year and some evenings and weekends during the summer.

STARTING SALARY: $10.36/hr + benefits

STARTING DATE: mid to late October 2004
