LSTA Continuing Education Grant Program

The State Library is pleased to announce a NEW grant program. The
Continuing Education Grant Program has been developed to "support costs
associated in offering continuing education, professional development,
seminars, and training programs that increase the competencies of library
staff or increase the visibility of the library in the community". This new
grant program will assist the State Library in achieving Goal 1 of the LSTA
Five-Year Plan which focuses on training and continuing education activities
for both staff and customers.

Two grant cycles will be held each year. The first cycle will be for events
scheduled between July 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004. The second cycle will
be for events scheduled between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2005.

The first grant cycle is now open. Requests may be up to $10,000 in federal
funds. Electronic proposals must be received at the State Library by March
1, 2004. Complete details on the grant program and application requirements
can be found at http://winslo.state.oh.us/publib/lstace.html
<http://winslo.state.oh.us/publib/lstace.html>

As with all LSTA grant programs, this is a competitive grant program open to
all types of libraries. There is a 25% hard dollar match of the total
project amount requested. Applicants should be aware that the intent of the
federal funds is to lessen costs to participants; funds may not be used to
generate a profit.

State Library staff encourages you to read the RFP for the Continuing
Education grants. If the program fits with your library's continuing
education goals and priorities, please consider applying for a grant. If
you have any questions about the grant program or would like to discuss your
idea prior to applying, please contact Missy Lodge, LSTA Program Coordinator
