Description
Do you have books that could be rare? Would you like to learn how to
take care of them? Want to know what they are worth?
This program, co-sponsored by the Rare Books Interest Group of GCLC and
the Rare Books and Special Collections Department of the Public Library
of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, will help you learn to identify,
value, protect, and care for your books.
9:30--Coffee and donuts
10:00--What Makes a Book Rare?
Kevin Grace, Archives & Rare Books, University Libraries, University of
Cincinnati
11:30 Lunch on your own
Gabrielle Fox, local book binding expert, will have a display and
presentation on fine book binding during lunch.
1:00--Introductions to various rare and special collections in the
Cincinnati area presented by their librarians.
3:00--Are Your Books Worth Bucks?--How to determine the value of your books
Sylvia Metzinger and Diane Mallstrom from the Special Collections
Department, Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County
There will also be table displays from all participating libraries to
allow you to learn more about their fascinating collections. Sample
products and information from book binding supplies vendors will also be
on display.
GCLC Members, Friends and library staff may register through this link.
Members of the public should call 513-369-6957 to register.
