Think comics don't belong in the library? Think cartoons are just for=
 kids? THINK AGAIN!!
You are invited to view an exhibit entitled

GRAPHIC STORYTELLING from Asterix to ZAP and beyond!

currently on display now through December 31, 2005, at the Cleveland =
Public Library, 2nd Floor, Main Building, East Sixth Street and Super=
ior Avenue in downtown Cleveland. The colorful, informative exhibit c=
overs a number of topics including:
- Why should the library collect graphic novels? The exhibit opens wi=
th a concise rationale for including comics in a library=92s collecti=
on.
- Find out when Spiderman, Iron Man, Batman, Wonder Woman, Luke Cage,=
 and others first appeared.
- From Hokusai=92s Manga to Osamu Tezuka, Rumiko Takahashi, and other=
s -- learn about the popular Japanese imports manga and anime.
- Discover Ohio=92s contribution to the field of comics and graphic n=
ovels through superstar artists and authors like Brian Michael Bendis=
, P. Craig Russell, Jeff Smith and others.
- From his humble beginnings in 1938 in Cleveland, Superman has becom=
e the iconic superhero. Learn more about him as well as view a unique=
 collection of Superman memorabilia.
- From the groundbreaking work of Robert Crumb to the award-winning B=
lankets by Craig Thompson, find out how independent and underground c=
omics have continuously challenged popular notions of what comics are=
 (and can do).
- From the cave paintings of Lascaux through Egypt, Medieval Europe, =
and Central America -- discover the art of graphic storytelling=92s l=
ong and distinguished pedigree.
