Adult Services Librarian/Programmer

Position Summary:  The Adult Services Librarian/Programmer will provide=
 references services to patrons as well as organize and deliver relevant=
 programming to adults in the branch service area. The purpose of this=
 position is to offer informative and educational opportunities to a large,=
 diverse population and to increase library use by attracting new library=
 users as well as serving the current population. The person in this=
 position must have the ability to define and solve problems; must be=
 creative; must be able to work alone or within groups; have awareness of=
 community resources and contacts; and be highly self-motivated. =


Responsibilities: =

*  Work with the Branch Librarian and Adult Services staff to develop ideas=
 for individual programs, program series and computer classes to be=
 presented in the branch library.
*  Plan, implement and evaluate adult programs.
*  Manage the budget provided for materials, performers and instructors for=
 adult programming.
*  Partner with community agencies and/or businesses in offering and=
 expanding library services to current and new library users.
*  Coordinate with other library departments for system-wide programs.
*  Work closely with the Community Relations Department and other library=
 departments to ensure proper scheduling and promotion of programs offered.
*  Compile and submit statistics on program attendance. =

*  Coordinate the recruitment and management of volunteers.
*  Provide reference services and library tours, as needed.
*  Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
*  MLS from ALA accredited university or considerable progress toward this=
 degree and have relevant work experience in services to adults.
*  Excellent communications and public relations skills along with strong=
 service orientation required.
*  Ability to work individually or within a group environment with a=
 diverse population, including individuals, agencies, and businesses.
*  Must have a valid driver's license and means of transportation to=
 fulfill job responsibilities.
*  Must have ability to bend, kneel and stretch; to place or retrieve items=
 on shelves.
*  Must have ability to lift 30 lbs. and carry 10 ft, must be able to push/=
 pull 100 lbs.
*  Evenings, weekends, and =93out of library=94 hours required.
