(These awards are NOT limited to just academic library support staff)
Do you know someone you would like to recognize for their excellence or
show appreciation for their support? Well now is your chance. The
Academic Library Association of Ohio Support Staff Interest Group will
present 2 awards at the ALAO Annual Conference in November:
SSIG Support Staff Award of Excellence
SSIG Award of Appreciation
(formerly the Ohio Library Outstanding Support Staff
and Ohio Library Supporter of Support Staff)
SSIG Support Staff Award of Excellence
The winner of this award is a support staff who shows excellence in job
performance and has the ability to work with staff and patrons. The
person must be willing to grow in a support staff position by attending or
presenting at workshops and conferences, taking classes or being
published. The person must also be active in library association(s).
SSIG Award of Appreciation
The winner of this award will be a person who demonstrates his/her
appreciation of support staff and has encouraged support staff to grow in
their positions. (Examples: providing attendance to workshops,
conferences, and classes; encouraging activity in library associations and
interest groups.)
Recognition of Recipients
Each winner will be recognized in the following ways:
* An award certificate.
* The winners will be announced and recognized during the 2005 ALAO
Annual Conferences luncheon business meeting.
* A paid registration to the 2006 ALAO Annual Conference.
* A paid registration to an Ohio Regional Library Systems workshop.

2004 Joyce Laurence, Ohio Wesleyan (Support Staff) and Linda Dobb, Bowling
Green State University (Supporter of Support Staff)
How to Enter:
Nominate yourself or someone else for one of these awards by the following
guidelines:
* Submit an essay of no more than 500 words explaining how this person
is deserving, giving examples.
* Provide both the nominees name and the nominators name along with
their contact information (phone number, address and email address), their
institutions and length of service and title.
* Persons nominating self must provide one reference.
* All nominees must be employed in the state of Ohio
* APPLICATION DEADLINE IS AUGUST 31, 2005
