POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Technical Services/Adult Services Assistant
Kaubisch Memorial Public Library
Fostoria, Ohio

Located in a rural community an hour south of Toledo, the Kaubisch 
Memorial Public Library seeks a service-focused candidate who enjoys 
working in all aspects of librarianship. This is a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITES: Duties of the position will include both cataloging and 
public service. Cataloging duties include helping to maintain the 
integrity of the database, consolidating and updating subject headings 
in accordance with the Library of Congress guidelines and KMPLs local 
choices, assigning call numbers, developing MARC records, and attaching 
holdings records to the database. Public service responsibilities will 
consist primarily of reference work and, possibly, limited time at the 
circulation desk.

REQUIREMENTS: While a candidate with an accredited MLS/MLIS degree is 
preferred, an undergraduate degree with at least two years experience in 
cataloging would be considered. Experience with automated 
systems--preferably Sirsi--and Bibliofile, or other computerized 
bibliographic utility is required. Candidate must also be familiar with 
LC subject headings, MARC record format, the Dewey Decimal System, 
authority files, and AACR2. As the position will require assignments in 
public service, the candidate must be comfortable working with library 
patrons. Competent reference skill--including proficiency in searching 
electronic databases, as well as print resources, and knowledge of 
computer applications such as Microsoft Office is required. Experience 
creating and/or maintaining web pages is a plus.

COMPENSATION: Competitive compensation commensurate with experience. 
This position requires a 40-hour work week, including nights and 
alternate Saturday work. The benefit package includes paid individual 
health insurance, eleven paid holidays, sick leave, two weeks vacation 
after a year, OPERS retirement, and a deferred compensation plan.
