Serving the Patrons You Never See
Program Date: 09/28/2005=20
Program Time: 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Speaker:=20
Cathy De Rosa, Vice President of Marketing and Library Services for OCLC
Program Description:
The traditional role of the library as the one-stop place to find
information, books and periodicals has changed. Libraries face stiff
competition for "mind-share" from a variety of places both physical and
virtual such as Google, Yahoo! and big bookstores. At the same time, the
value of libraries in the communities they serve has not been
well-articulated by librarians to their communities, resulting in a lack
of awareness of the services and content offered by libraries. How can
libraries compete in a crowded market place? How can libraries increase
visits to libraries either physically or electronically? And how can the
library "brand" be rejuvenated to position library resources and
services as relevant to individuals and communities? Cathy will answer
these questions in this presentation.=20
Cathy De Rosa is Vice President of Marketing and Library Services for
OCLC which she joined in 2001. She is one of the three authors of the
2003 OCLC Environmental Scan. She also serves on the faculty of the
Fisher College of Business, Ohio State University, where she teaches
e-business marketing. Cathy has a master's of business administration
degree from the Harvard Business School.=20
