Register now for the Society of Ohio Archivists' pre-conference workshop "Scrapbook Preservation: Challenges and Opportunities for Archivists and Preservation Librarians." Registration is limited to 30 people. There are two seats left in the workshop, and then we will begin a waitlist. The workshop is April 19, 2006 from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus.

Brian Meggitt, Paper Preservation Assistant at the Intermuseum Conservation Association in Cleveland, Ohio, will present this informative session on preserving scrapbooks. This workshop, through a formal presentation, question-and-answer period and individual examination of scrapbooks from attendees' collections will seek to address the fundamental problem of honoring the scrapbook's original structure and intent, preserving it for future use as well as making this important resource available to the public. Handouts will be provided to assist librarians and archivists with recommendations for housing, re-formatting and preserving scrapbooks in their collections. Attendees are encouraged, but not required, to bring one scrapbook example from their collection.

Due to generous sponsorship from the Ohio Preservation Council, this workshop is being offered at a reduced cost to all participants. Register online or download a paper registration form at: http://www.ohioarchivists.org/conference/workshop.html Registrations will be counted in the order they are received.
