Speaker(s)
*Mary Hamilton*
Mary's foray into storytelling started early in life when she told her
third grade classmates her experiences riding a horse bareback.
Spellbound, the class listened as Hamilton recounted every aspect of her
journey. The only thing was that it didn't actually happen. Mary now
continues to entertain audiences of all ages with Kentucky tales, world
folk & fairy tales, plus a few myths, legends, true stories and original
fiction. She has been featured at the National Storytelling Festivals as
well as other festivals, museums, libraries, and schools and
universities across the United States.
*Len Cabral*
Nationally-acclaimed, award-winning storyteller Len Cabral has been
using poetry, song, humor and characterizations to bring tales of his
Cape Verdean ancestry to life since 1976. Cabral's folktales of Africa,
the Caribbean, the Cape Verde Islands, and the southern United States
take listeners on journeys far and near, with each story offering a
lesson and an invitation to imagine. By sharing folktales from around
the world as well as family and original stories, Cabral builds bridges
across cultural boundaries and demonstrates how families live on through
their tales. Cabral has appeared at National Storytelling Festival and
has provided keynote addresses and creates workshops for educators and
students.

*A story, in which native humour reigns,
Is often useful, always entertains;
A graver fact, enlisted on your side,
May furnish illustration, well applied;
But sedentary weavers of long tales
Give me the fidgets, and my patience fails.
- William Cowper, /Conversation/ (1. 203)
