The 2006 OPLIN/OHIONET Public Library Database Preview is now
available at http://www.ohionet.org/ref_preview.php.

Library staff are invited to review the databases available in this
preview. We have included information about the availability of
remote access and usage statistics, technological specifications, and
pricing for each product.

Some products will be offered through OPLIN as group contract
opportunities. These products will be clearly identified as OPLIN
Group Contract in the Pricing field. We are still negotiating group
contract terms, but we expect the group offerings to include:

       ALLDATA
       Associations Unlimited (Thomson Gale)
       Auto Repair Reference Center (EBSCO)
       Book Index with Reviews (EBSCO)
       CultureGrams (ProQuest)
       eLibrary (ProQuest)
       HeritageQuest (ProQuest)
       LegalForms (Thomson Gale)
       Literary Reference Center (EBSCO)
       Obituaries and Death Notices (NewsBank)
       ReferenceUSA
       SIRS Discoverer (ProQuest)
       SIRS Knowledge Source (ProQuest)

Not all databases are available yet in the preview, but they will be
added over the next week. Pricing for those products will be sent to
each library director the week of April 10th. If your library has not
received pricing information by April 17th, or for more information,
contact the OPLIN Support Center (support at oplin.org).

Many more products are being offered to individual libraries by
OHIONET. It is not necessary to be an OHIONET member to participate in
these offers. If there is a large level of interest in a specific
title, additional discounts may be negotiated by OHIONET. For the cost
of these products, look in the Pricing field.

OHIONET is a member organization that provides access to OCLC's
reference products, plus the electronic resources of many publishers
and vendors. While its focus has been content for academic libraries,
they also serve public libraries. Like last year, they will again
participate in the OPLIN preview in order to present opportunities to
libraries that wish to add optional titles, or whose communities
expect multiple titles on some subjects. OHIONET is waiving non-member
fees as a requirement to participation in the database program. For
additional information contact Christine Morris
