[OPLINLIST] Can you identify this book?

Hello,

I have a patron that conducts a reading time at the Air Force Museum.  She
is looking for a book she has used before.  The story line is:  some boys
decide to make an airplane and use what they have on hand, some sheets, a
wringer washer motor etc.  They are discovered by adults and have to put
everything back.  It may be an old book like 50's or 60's, or at least set
in that time frame.
Can any one help me??   Thanks for your help.
