Young Adult Literature for Adult Services
Program Date: 02/23/2006
Program Time: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Speakers:
Rollie Welch, Cleveland Public Library
Mike Pawuk, Cuyahoga County Public Library
Program Description:
One of the recent developing trends in reading is the explosion of books
being published for readers in their early twenties. With content that
addresses more mature issues than books for middle school teens, these
titles stretch the boundries of any definition of young adult reading
material. But unfortunately, they also might not be picked up by the
adult services librarians' radar. To achieve the goal of creating
lifelong readers, join Rollie Welch, young adult librarian with
Cleveland Public Library, in a presentation of fiction, nonfiction and
biographies that will provide a nudge to allow older young adult readers
to crossover into the world of adult literature.
In addition, Mike Pawuk of Cuyahoga County Public Library will give
highlights of popular graphic novels for teens that may appeal to adults
as well as popular older titles that may appeal to older teens.
