*Kristen Pool* is the KnowItNow @fterDark Project Coordinator. She is 
responsible for managing the librarians who staff the service from home 
when libraries are closed, for training the more than 600 service-wide 
librarians, promoting the service, and coordinating evaluation. She 
works out of the Northeast Ohio Regional Library System.

*Chip Kruthoffer* is the Head of Systems at the Lane Libraries 
(www.lanepl.org) serving Hamilton, Fairfield and Oxford, Ohio. A former 
reference department supervisor, he is also a member of the KnowItNow 
@fterDark team of professional librarians who provide high quality 
information service even in the "wee hours" of the morning.


      Description

KnowItNow is a free 24x7 online reference service provided for all 
Ohioans from the State Library of Ohio with the support of Ohio public 
libraries. Since its statewide launch in September 2004, KIN has rapidly 
become the busiest online reference service in the country. Hear an 
update about the service, then join in a discussion about virtual 
reference, its benefits and challenges, and its place in libraries.
