Library Director Position (Search Reopened)

The Highland County District Library has an opening for an energetic 
Director of our four-library county system located in Southwest Ohio, an 
hour from the Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus areas. Aided by an 
Assistant Director and three Branch Managers, the Director oversees the 
Main library in Hillsboro, Ohio, and three branches in newly constructed 
buildings. We serve a population of 41,963, with 25,705 registered 
borrowers, and are still expanding with an average annual growth of 10% 
over the past twelve years. The system participates in the SEO consortium.

This position requires an MLS degree from an ALA accredited school and 
five years supervisory experience with strong interpersonal and 
leadership skills, history of community involvement, and ability to 
coordinate supervision of a staff of forty. OLC Certification is preferred.

Candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain effective 
working relationships with the staff and public. Must be able to 
communicate, both written and orally, have the ability to interpret 
community interest and needs, ability to plan library services, meet the 
public and maintain their confidence. Experience in selection of public 
library materials is preferred.

Director selects and evaluates personnel, implements policy decisions 
made by the Board of Trustees, and coordinates library participation in 
networks.

Salary range is $52,000 – $57,000 dependant on experience and ability, 
plus excellent benefits.
