"Get'em Started Finding Great-Great Grandpa": Genealogy Basics for
Libraries
What is the worst part of having to help a genealogy customer in your
library? Not knowing where to start! "Get'em Started Finding
Great-Great Grandpa" is a five hour workshop that will explore the world
of genealogy and family history print and electronic resources. You
will learn:
* Who is the typical genealogist
* Why they are interested in their family history
* The right questions to ask to get them started
* The major types of useful print and electronic records and ho
to use them
* Basic family history resources your library should have for
customers
The workshop will focus on Kentucky genealogy resources.
There are three dates and locations for the workshop:
Friday, June 9th
Pike County Public Library, Belfrey Branch

Friday, July 21st
Boyd County Public Library
1740 Central Ave., Ashland
Friday, July 28th
Mount Sterling-Montgomery County Public Library
241 West Locust St., Mt. Sterling
The workshop will be presented by Jimmie Epling, FIVCO/Big Sandy
Regional Library Consultant, Kentucky Department for Libraries and
Archives (KDLA).
All will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Space will be limited.
