Description
Like most people, you probably use the web to stay on top of current
events, news, and blogs. You are also probably one of the majority users
who find themselves spending a lot of time trying to keep up with the
fast flow of distributed information.
Wouldn't it be great if new web content was delivered to you when it
became available? Wouldn't it be nice to have all of that information
aggregated into one place? Many web users, both experienced and novice,
are already doing this via RSS feeds.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method for collecting content from
web sites and downloading it all into one place for the user to read at
their convenience. By bringing customized content to the user, you don't
need to spend time searching and browsing for it.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how RSS can change the way you
browse the web with only a few minutes of set up. You will learn how to
find and subscribe to feeds and the many different ways of managing and
viewing content.
You will also learn how your institution can become an RSS provider. It
is likely that many of your users already subscribe to RSS feeds. Would
they benefit from a feed from your institution?
