LearningExpress is generally a very under-utilized database. Librarians 
and library staff must take a pro-active position to promote this 
resource to their users. Test preparation services are often very 
expensive. However, people are willing to spend money to help prepare 
for the ACT, GRE, GED, real estate, and other assessments. 
LearningExpress provides free access to users.

This workshop will help you learn how to promote LearningExpress in your 
library. Learn how to brand materials locally so you can promote this 
service in your library. Participants will create their own accounts and 
learn how to add relevant courses and tests to their accounts. 
Participants will take one of the tests online and will receive an 
immediate score. The results of finished tests will be evaluated during 
the workshop.

      Speaker

*Louis Mays* is the Librarian at Southern State Community College and a 
Professor of Library Science at SSCC. Louis is responsible for 
collection development and management as well as the direction and 
functions of the libraries at Southern State's four campuses and two 
training centers. He works closely with faculty to encourage library 
usage in the classroom and conducts numerous staff development workshops 
at the college. In addition to his duties as librarian, Louis also 
teaches library science courses at the college and has taught library 
science courses at other colleges and universities.
